Your chats stay on your device.
Effective date: October 20, 2026 · Applies to the ChatWarren browser extension (version 1.x) and this website.
What ChatWarren stores, and where
ChatWarren works on four websites only: chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com and grok.com. On those sites it stores the following locally in your browser, using Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and the extension's own IndexedDB database:
| Data | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| Chat titles and links (URLs) shown in each site's own sidebar | So your chats can be listed, filed and searched in one place | When you visit a supported site (you can turn this off) |
| The text of a conversation (your messages and the AI's replies) | Full-text search and export to Markdown/PDF | Only when you open that chat (you can turn this off) |
| Folders, tags and saved prompts you create | Organising and one-click prompt insert | When you create them |
| Settings and a small compatibility report (which page parts were recognised; no content) | Remember your choices; spot when a site's layout changes | As you use the extension |
| Your Pro license key, if you buy one | Unlock Pro features | When you paste it in |
This data never leaves your device through ChatWarren. The extension contains no code that sends data over the network: no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no remote code and no "phone home" checks.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent or share any personal or sensitive user data.
- We do not use your data for advertising, credit-worthiness or any purpose unrelated to the features described above.
- We do not read pages other than the four supported AI chat sites.
- We do not log in to your AI accounts or call their APIs. ChatWarren only reads what is already displayed on your screen.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received by ChatWarren adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the user-facing features you can see in the extension.
Permissions, explained
- Access to chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com and grok.com: to show the ChatWarren drawer, read chat titles and the open conversation, and insert a saved prompt into the chat box when you click Insert.
- storage / unlimitedStorage: to keep your library in your browser, including long conversations.
- sidePanel: to show ChatWarren in Chrome's side panel.
Payments (Pro)
If you buy Pro, checkout happens on a page run by our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe collects the details needed to process your payment under Stripe's privacy policy; we receive the purchase record (such as your email address and what you bought) so we can send and support your license key. The extension itself does not contact Stripe or us. It checks the license key on your device.
This website
This is a static website with no cookies, no analytics and no forms. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and protect the site.
Your control: export and delete
- Turn off capture in Settings to stop saving chat text, or turn off individual sites.
- Back up everything to a JSON file in Settings → Your data.
- Delete a single chat from ChatWarren (this does not touch the chat on the AI site), or use Settings → "Delete everything".
- Uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored data from your browser.
Because we hold none of your data, we cannot view, recover or delete it for you; it is entirely in your hands.
Children
ChatWarren is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them (we collect no information from anyone).
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and describe the change in the extension's release notes. We will not start collecting data without asking for your clear consent first.
